Hap and Leonard are happy running their gym and have stopped being private investigators. Hap’s wife, Brett still owns the business, but it is just small things these days. When the two are out on the lake fishing, they see a small plane crash into the water. They rush to the plane, and find a young girl naked, and she looks like she is dead. The police arrive, and the girl is still alive, but barely. Two other bodies of young girls are found in crates, dead. Soon, Hap and Leonard are investigating what happened to the girls, and soon find a trail of other young girls being held and sold to me who can use them, and it all leads to a man known as ‘the artist’ who creates shocking art. The duo tracks down the bad guys, and it leads to an intense showdown. I am sad to say this is the final novel in the series. It’s been one of my favorites for years. The writing, the friendship between Hap and Leonard is outstanding, with lots of lol moments. This is a fitting finale, and one can only hope that maybe in the future author Lansdale might change his mind. Thank you for all the great books over the years.
