Book Review: ‘Out Of Her Depth: A Novel’ By Lizzy Barber

21 years ago Sebastian was put in jail for a crime he said he didn’t commit. And today on appeal he’s been found innocent and he’s out of jail. For Rachel this is bad news. It brings back bad memories of what happened back then in Italy. She was there for the summer working at a villa and became good friends with Diana, a woman who thought she was better than everyone else, who slept with Sebastian even though she knew Rachel wanted him. Then another young girl shows up to work there and she and Sebastian get together and Diana and Rachel work together to break them up. But things don’t go according to plan and someone dies and today Rachel is losing it and gets the three of them together and forces the truth out with a deadly ending. The novel uses the before and then story and we follow along in real time in the past and with what’s happening today. Some will place twists and turns make this an enjoyable thriller.
