When they were kids, there was a custody battle for two sisters, Calista and Athena, and their father, Benjamin, won solo custody, and their mother was banned from their lives, until they were at least 18. He turned them into golf superstars and controlled their lives. He was abusive and hard on them. Five years ago Calista, at the top of the LPGA tour, walked out on the 18th hole, and out of her father’s and sister’s lives. Now today, their mother has died of cancer, and they are reuniting on Hobby Island for her funeral. Their late mother hopes that they can make peace with each other, and while here, learn shocking secrets, and there are a lot of them. Also, on the island, is Reid, the man who broke Calista’s heart, hoping to make amends with her. When the girls compare notes and figure out everything that has gone on in their lives up to this point, they decide on how they will move forward. This is a well-written, character-driven novel that you will not want to put down. With so many twists and a great cast of supporting characters, this one is not to be missed.
