This is the 30th and final novel from author Jane Haddam (who has passes away) featuring her character of Gregor Demarkian. He works with sometimes with the Philly P.D. as a consultant. In this story he’s asked by a Senator and the Police cheap to look into an attempeted murder. An elderly woman was attacked and she falls out of a mysterious black van that has been seen around town.
She doesn’t remember what happened and a search of her place finds a mysterious gold coin that is know to be used with a real estate magnet named Carl Alder. Gregor is ready to retire and take in a foster child but agrees to help with this case. Will he be able to find out what’s been going on before it’s too late.
My first time reading one of thses Gregor Demarkian novels and I really like it. It combines political isses with police work in a well-written tone.
