Anne Elliot is the executive director of the Elysium Theater in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, like her late mother was. She is a great boss, gets along with everyone in town, and takes care of her alcoholic father, and flaky sister, always putting everyone else’s needs over her own. Eight years ago she was with Ben, and broke-up with him, and now he’s back in town, when his aunt and uncle buy a winery, that used to be owned by Anne’s family. The pain of back then hits them both, and they slowly spend a little time together, and try to put the past behind them. Ben makes a romantic gesture, hoping to put the past behind him, Anne decides to take her life back and start thinking about herself for a change, and they may have a second shot at love. This novel is based on Jane Austen’s Persuasion, I never read it, and it’s a great rom-com. The two lead characters are ones you root for to put the past behind them, and a fun supporting cast, including a goose, highlight this novel.
