Kira Drake is strong, fierce, independent woman, who doesn’t like to answer to anyone. She works on an island, doing research to help animals live longer, and also trains them. When she goes to Paris, with her dog Mack, she’s trying to track down the dangerous man, Joseph Taylor, who has set off a deadly bomb, he gets away and she returns to her island, until Jack Harlan, a very rich man, enlists her help to find Joseph Taylor, in the mountains of Colorado, which they almost do. Now she has made an enemy of him, and he’s coming after her, Jack, and a treasure that Kira has found in Egypt. They end up playing games of cat and mouse, each trying to outmaneuver each other, until it leads to the ultimate showdown between the three. Author Iris Johansen, who has Kendra Michaels, Eve Duncan and Catherine Ling, has added another great character to her stable of strong women. If you’ve ever read one of her novels you know the formula for her stories and characters, and this is another novel that long-time fans and new ones will enjoy.
