Book Review: ‘Old Country: A Novel’ By Matt Query & Harrison Query

In their debut novel, the Querys ramp up the mysterious and the psychological, in this well-written first novel. Former Marine Harry and his wife Sasha, along with their dog Dash, leave the bustle of Denver and buy ranch in rural Idaho, the house of their dreams. They have acres of land, lakes, hunting and privacy. That is until they learn they’re spirits that live on the lands and come our during the various seasons. Sping brings a mysterious light in the pond, summer brings a naked man being chased by a bear, fall brings mysterious scarecrows and winter is suppose to be a time-out, except with Harry’s past, it brings back the dead. In order to deal with all these mystericals things, there are rules that must be followed in order to repeal these spirits. As much as they love the land, living here is proving taxing and they learn another shocking secret about leaving. It comes down to a final showdown with the ghosts that could change anything. A book you will not to put down once you start reading.
