Sarah Booth Delaney is on a drive and is going over the Tallahatchie Bridge when she thinks she sees a woman jumping off of it. When she goes to investigate, she finds nothing, so it looks like it’s another of those ghost tales involving the bridge. Bank president, Oscar, hires Sarah and Tinkie to find Danny Anderson, a local farmer, who has vanished. His farm, like most farmers in the area, is in serious money issues. The rumor is that he has been having an affair with Pearl, the wife of a local preacher. As they investigate, they find strange things and information involving Danny, and others. When a man is murdered, and a bunch of money thefts take place, Danny is the main suspect. When they finally figure out where Danny is and who the murderer is, things seem like they are settled down, until Sarah gets a cryptic note on her car. She then learns a shocking truth, and that she hasn’t been told the truth about something, and it sends her into a tailspin, which will be the plot of the next novel, which will be the final novel in the series, which makes me sad. This is the 30th novel in the series, and it’s another good one. Sarah Booth and the supporting cast are on top of their game, and longtime fans will enjoy this one.
