Leena is married, with a six-month-old baby, and feels out of sorts with the baby, and secrets from things that have happened in the last few years. When Rhiannon calls her out of the blue, they were friends, and then she vanished on her, asking to meet. She’s living in a woman’s only community, called Halcyon, in the desert, and wants Leena to come visit. She takes off, leaving a note for her husband that she will be gone for a few days, When she gets there, things seem simple and easy, but she soon learns there’s more to this place than she can imagine. It soon turns into a nightmare, when she sees someone she doesn’t expect to see, and soon lives are in danger. We learn via flashbacks, and chapters devoted to characters just what each of them have done, their secrets, and how things have led to this shocking climax. Author Sara Shepard wrote Pretty Little liars, and this is another character-driven thriller, that has many twists and turns, to keep readers engaged.
