Nora Gold lives in New York and is headed back to Chicago for Hanukkah with her sister and her mother. Henry Cole was her best friend in school and lived across the street from her growing up. They had a falling out and haven’t gotten along since. He is also home for the holidays; he lives in New York as well. When Nora learns that her mother and Henry’s mother are a couple and in love, it is a shock to her, and that they are all one big family now. The moms surprise the family with a trip to a cabin, and both Nora and Henry will be leaving a day later than everyone else and will have to drive together to the cabin. When bad weather hits, they’re forced to take shelter and spend the night in the same room, where they hash everything out and almost have sex. They agree to put the past behind them, they become a couple and have sex, until Nora freaks out and ends things with Henry, hurting him in the process. When she sees a shrink and confronts her issues, she decides she must make a grand gesture to try and get Henry back. A solid, fun family holiday rom-com, with two people you root for to be together. The supporting cast of characters enhances the story, and the book will leave you with a smile.
