I am a big fan of author J.P, Jance and her series of books. I really like the J.P. Beaumont series and book number 25 is another great novel in the series. It’s Christmas time and the 74 year old retired cop and sometimes P.I. is home at his house in Bellingham, Washington, getting the Christmas decorations ready and spending time with his dogs. He gets a visit from Jared Danielson, the son of his former partner Sue, who was killed 20 years ago by her husband in their home. J.P. had saved him and his brother Chris, when Jared called him and told him what was going on. J.P. has always felt guilty about Sue being killed. Jared is asking him to help find his brother Chris, who vanished 12 years ago in Alaska. His Grandmother is dying and Jared wants to reunite them. This takes J.P. to a small town in Homer where he finds the ex of CHris and her 12 year old son, who Chris never knew about. His investigation takes him all over Homer and to Anchorage, with the help of an awesome driver named Twink, who is an ex-cop and bad ass in her own right. The more he asks, the more he learns and it soon brings him to a main suspect. All the while he’s checking in with his devoted wife Mel, who is Chief Of Police and on their dog Sarah, The hightlight of the book is J.P. and Twink his driver. Fans of the series will eat this one up and new readers will find it easy to jump in.
