Reece Chartwell stops by to see his parents at their house and is shocked at what he finds. His mother and father, naked and dead in bed. They have both been shot. He calls the police, and Detective McCabe is on the case. It at first glance looks like a murder/suicide. Then Reece gets a call from his mother, she is alive, but she wasn’t in their bed. From here the investigation takes off, and we meet Reece’s wife, and son, Gage, who is 14, and Reece’s brother Holden, who has drug issues. As we read along the story unfolds, and we learn that this family has a lot of secrets. We slowly learn them and how it relates to the dead bodies in the bed. Chapter after chapter, it seems there’s another shocking reveal, with the most shocking being the ending, something you don’t see coming. Author Linwood Barclay has written the novel of the summer with so many twists and turns, you need a scorecard. This one is not to be missed.
