An old Victorian, named Shelley House, in England, is the setting for this novel. There are six units in the building, and Dorothy Darling has lived there for a long time and considered herself the gatekeeper of the building. Nothing goes on here without her knowing, she is the nosy neighbor in apartment number two, who watches out the window and keeps journals. When a young girl, with pink hair, named Kat moves into a room in apartment number one, things change in the building, she has a secret past. Then the tenants all get eviction notices, one of them is attacked, and Dorothy and Kat team up to figure out what’s really going on. This book is delightful, full of well-written, fun characters, a story you like reading along, and a good chemistry between old Dorothy and young Kat. A winner all around.
