Twenty=two years ago Sami Kierce, who was in college, was in Spain with friends, when he met Anna in a club. They hit it off right away, his friends left, he stayed and was ready to move in with her. Then he woke up on the fifth morning with a bloody knife in his hand and Anna dead and no memory of what happened. Now 22 years later, he’s married with a baby son, a former cop who was kicked off the force and doing security work for a law firm and teaching a class to adults who want to be detectives. One night in walks a woman, who looks just like Anna and she takes off when she sees Sami. He chases her and soon learns where she is living and confronts her, she denies knowing him but he seems familiar. When he learns who she is, he’s soon hired by her family to solve a decades-long mystery, which puts him on a collision course with a shocking truth, just who is she and what happened all those years ago. This is another great Harlan Coben novel, has he ever written a bad one? The lead character of Sami is well-written and a fun group of supporting characters enhances the story. Fans of Harlan will enjoy this one.
