Evan Smoak…aka Orphan X…aka The Nowhere Man…has fought and killed other Orphan agents, killers, terrorists and bad guys…now he faces his toughest battle yet, having to confront his best friend Tommy Stojack, who supplies his gun and ammunitions. Evan figures out he has supplied arms to bad people, and it killed an innocent person, and that goes against his codes. They have a verbal showdown, and it means they may have to face each other in combat, and when Evan goes back to see Tommy, he’s ambushed by a group of killers. Tommy has fled, off to help the son of an old Navy friend, who is in trouble, in a rural community, with Evan on his heels, and it once again pits the two friends against each other, after Evan finds out what happened here. What neither of them knows is that a killer assassin group, known as the four horsemen, are on the way to take out Tommy, and they must work together to take them down, they’re alerted to the news of them with very little time to prepare for the battle, and leaves the reader with a shocking ending. This is the tenth book in the series and author Gregg Hurwitz has topped himself yet again. He has taken the character to new, emotional heights and changed him moving forward. The action scenes are top-notch as always, and it will be interesting to see where he takes Evan going forward
