A small nuclear device goes off in West Virginia, then another one in Nevada; someone is planning to let one go off in San Francisco. Alex ‘Boneyard’ Bonnard, and his student, Chelsea, have been working on a program, and have access to the data at Whetstone, a billion-dollar company, who seem to be behind the nuclear devices. While out on his boat with his son, Luca, the ship suddenly goes haywire, throws them overboard, and Boneyard is killed. Jamie Palmer, a lifeguard and Boneyard’s best friend, is able to save Luca, and now will be his legal guardian. When they hack into Whetstone, they find more information and see that they are up to something that could be quite dangerous, and call in the feds, who think they have taken them down, but it turns out they haven’t, and leads to a thrilling finale. This is the debut novel of author Steve Hawk, brother of Tony Hawk, and it’s an awesome novel, one of the best debut novels I have read in years. It starts off strong and never lets up. The trio of characters, Palmer, Luca, and Chelsea, are well-written, and the action is top-notch. This one is not to be missed.
