Walter Nash is married to Judith, has a 19-year-old daughter, Maggie, a beautiful home and a well-paying job in finance at Sybaritic Investments. When his estranged father, Ty, dies suddenly, it’s a blow to him, and at the funeral, Ty’s best friend, Shock, lays into him. Later that night, an FBI agent approaches Nash asking for his help, his company is shady, especially his boss, Rhett Temple, and they want him to help find the proof to bring them down, though it could be dangerous for him and his family. As we read on, we learn just how shady this company and Rhett really are. Nash agrees to help, then finds out three other people related to the company have been found dead, and had been working for the FBI. When Rhett and his partners find out Nash is working undercover, they set him up for a murder, and his daughter goes missing. He turns to Shock for help, and over the course of a year, he changes his body and his look, is still working with his FBI agent and decides to go on offense to take down the people that have ruined his life. The book ends on a cliffhanger, which sets up book number two in April. This is a good start to this series. With lots of twists and turns, as only author Baldacci can write, the next novel cannot come fast enough.
