It’s Christmas time on Nantucket, and for the Parsons family, it’s the best time of the year, the annual Christmas Stroll. Brick is married to Jane, and they have three grown kids in college, Lydia, Florence, and Lucas, who are all coming home to celebrate the holidays. It’s also a time for changes with the family, Jane is pregnant at age 44, Lydia is in love and has been offered a job in Tucson. Florence is in love with a poet, and is planning to move to Wisconsin with him, and Lucas has decided he doesn’t want to work at the family business; he wants to be a nurse. It’s a lot for the family to wrap its heads around, but that won’t stop them from celebrating the holidays as a family. This is a fun, well-written, character-driven novel that celebrates family and the holidays. At just 273 pages, it’s a small, easy novel to read, and a perfect holiday novel to read.
