Four years ago Joan lost her husband, then covid hit, and she has never really recovered. Maggie is going to college to become a nurse, she lost her mother a few years ago, and has a father that drinks too much. Fate brings Joan and Maggie together, when she rents her a room in her house. They each help each other, and Joan starts therapy, hires Phil to do lawn work, who is single, and Maggie starts a love/hate relationship with Joan’s son Nick. As the days, and weeks go by, Joan works to put her grief behind her finally, and Maggie has to deal with her father, get him the help he needs, or be done with him forever. Along the way, love blooms, and they all become a family. Debbie had said after her last book, she may be done writing, She even took four months off, but finally decided to write again. And we the readers are the lucky ones. This is another great book from her, with her familiar them of family, love and loss. Hopefully she will keep writing!
