Simone ‘Sam’ Vetiver is a writer who had one hit novel and is on tour now for her latest book, which isn’t selling very well. Her next book is due soon, and she has writer’s block. William Corwyn is a successful author who lives in a big house on an island and has hit book after hit book, and is about to go out on tour for his latest. He reaches out to Sam, who’s with the same publisher, and they meet and hit it off. They soon start a relationship, and he gives her advice for her next novel. What Sam doesn’t know is that William, who is near sixty, is a cad, banging every woman he can. Then there’s the Rabbit, a woman obsessed with William, who watches him in his house and follows him almost everywhere he goes. The three are on a collision course of doom, Rabbit knows a lot of William’s secrets, and tries to warn Sam away from him. It reaches a shocking reveal where no one is as they seem. The novel is told in sections by each character, and it’s an intense read with twists and turns you don’t see coming. One of the first great books of the new year.
