Audrey Sullivan has been living in Hollywood and working as a publicist until a scandal ruined her career. When her grandmother dies, she inherits her estate, including her movie Palace, which she plans to reopen, and moves to Pine Island, a small island off of the Maine coast. After a month on the island, where she is the talk of the island as an outsider, she is ready for her opening night. By the end of the night, one of the people there for the movie ends up dead in the projection room, and Audrey becomes a suspect, even though she had never met the man before this night. She ends up teaming up with the detective on the case and soon starts to learn shocking secrets about the people on the island. When she starts getting strange messages to back off, she is more determined to solve the murder and soon finds her life in danger. This is the debut novel from author Malone, and it’s a fun, small-town murder mystery, with lots of quirky supporting characters. Well worth a read.
