The year is 1950, and the location is the Swiss Alps. Miss Marple is on vacation with her friend, Miss Bantry, and her assistant Diana. Also at the hotel is a variety of characters who we hear from in alternating chapters, and all seem to have agendas of their own. There’s the actress having an affair with the politician from England, who is here with his wife. He has some secret plan going with Bruno, who has plans of his own. When a body is found in the hotel gondola, Miss Marple springs into action. A snowstorm has delayed the police, but lucky for them, there is a French inspector at the hotel. Then more people are killed, and Miss Marple has figured out what is going on, but is it too late to arrest the killer? This is a fun murder mystery that is easy to read. I have never read a Miss Marple novel before, and I enjoyed this one a lot. Somewhere, I am sure Agatha Christie has a smile on her face. Hopefully we will get more new Miss Marple novels.
