Eddie Asher has had issues his whole life. He sometimes blacks out and forgets things. He checks himself into the Hudson Valley Psychiatric Hospital for help. He thinks he might have killed Lucy, the woman who is engaged to his brother. He soon talks about his other personality, named Par, who seems to take over and protect Eddie. His Doctor is Richard Montgomery, and he is able to get both talking, and soon we learn all about Eddie’s life growing up, when Par first appeared, and what really happened to Lucy the night she vanished. It also leads to a shocking reveal about Eddie and his life, that Par may have another body he also inhabits, and how that’s tied to Eddie. This is an intense, character-driven thriller, with twists and turns you don’t see coming. A perfect book to end the year on.
