Inspector John Rebus finds himself in prison after accidentally murdering a man. At the prison, inmate Jack Simpson is found dead, and his roommate beaten. Rebus decides to help investigate the death and beating from the inside, he’s still friends with some of his former detectives. Meanwhile a young girl has gone missing, and a man who runs a sex site is found dead, and they are connected and may also be connected to what happened to Jack Simpson. As Rebus investigates from within and his former workers investigate from outside, one thing is sure, it’s not all that easy to find a killer, expecially when there’s a lot of corruption going on. This is the 25th novel in the series and it’s another good one. With page-turning twists and another classic Rebus case, this one will delight fans of Rankin.
