Maya, who is 28, lives in Canada, and is off to Pakistan to get married, in an arranged marriage to Imtiaz. She still lives under her mother’s control, and by the culture of her people, until she gets married. On the plane she meets a lawyer named Sarfaraz, whom she doesn’t get along with at first, and then because of a storm, is forced to land in Switzerland, and are stuck there for a few days. Then end up becoming friendly, seeing the sites, and having a good time, and then it’s off to get married. It turns out he’s going to same place as she is, and they end up kissing, and Maya feels something, but is committed to getting married, and then is shocked to see him at the family house, and find out who he really is, and now has doubts about this wedding. This is a really well-written novel, a fascinating look at the Pakistan culture, with two characters you get invested in, and hope will be together. Fans of rom-coms will like this one.
