Poppy Banks has always wanted to be a writer, has written novels, and been rejected a lot. She writes for an online site making lists, and hates it. Her brother is a famous, successful writer, and there’s some jealousy, and she has family issues with her mother. When she starts meeting her Aunt Margot one a year, they become close (there is an issue between Margot and Poppy’s mother). When Margot dies, she leaves her villa in France to Poppy, who has to live there, and write a novel within six months. She goes there but doesn’t really want to stay, and gets an offer to sell. She soon meets the people from Margot’s life, including the sexy Oliver, and soon changes her mind, and falls for Oliver, and writes a novel, which is rejected by an agent. Poppy soon loses her confidence, and decides to sell, after saying she would keep the villa. She ruins her relationship with Oliver, but soon learns the family secrets, and a shocking secret about Margot, and hopes it’s not too late to fix everything. This is a strong debut novel from author Jamie Varon, with good characters, and a solid story. Fans of rom-coms will be happy with this one.

You can pick up Main Character Energy in stores on Tuesday, Septembe 5th from Park Row.
