Paris, Kentucky is the setting for this first novel in the series. Marci Beaucoup, who lives with her cat, has opened a French bakery in town, called La Belle Patisserie, to bring some french culture to the area. Then she gets a call from her landlord that he’s selling the building, and she could be out. She hopes that the charming Antoine Dubois gets the property, as he has said he will keep her there. And then Antoine’s ex-girlfriend, Kelly, turns up dead in front of the bakery, and he is the prime suspect. Marci finds out if he is found guilty and loses the building, she’s out, and a new strip mall will be built. She decides to investigate, and proof he is innocent of the murder. Of course, someone doesn’t want her sticking her nose in, and she soon finds herself in danger. Another fun small town murder mystery, with fun, quirky characters, and food that makes you hungry (and even recipes in the back of the book). Fans of these type of novels will enjoy this one, and here’s hope for more.

You can pick up Macarons Can Be Murder in stores on Tuesday, July 11th from Crooked Lane.
