Ella Rose is an actress still trying to make it big. It’s happening slowly for her. Her favorite number is 22, and when she goes to a baseball game, she sees Christian Lucas, who wears number 22. They end up getting set up by their PR people, and they hit it off right away. Soon they fall in love, but at times it has to be long distance, with her work schedule, and his baseball schedule. They eventually get married, he is traded, she gets a big acting gig, he gets hurt, he signs with another team, he gets traded, he gets hurt again. She turns down jobs to be with him, and eventually, they have to figure out how they will work things out going forward. This story is based on a real-life love story. It’s a character-driven novel, as we follow them when they meet, fall in love, get married, and work out their relationship. A good end-of-summer novel.
