Vampires, Wolves and Sorcerers once lived in harmony with each other, until a deadly group called The Grays showed up, killed a lot of vampires, and forced them to flee to a new city, First Light. It’s a class system where the rich and powerful get the best blood, and the lower you are on the totem pole, you only get average blood. Samantha is a maid for the powerful family of Lord Azzuri, for ten years now, and wants a better life, and is planning an escape. When the lord’s youngest son is murdered outside the city by the Grays, Sam starts to make her move, and teams up with the Leeches, a group of rebel maids, led by a powerful woman, who use their knowledge of secrets to blackmail the powerful that run the city. They soon come across a conspiracy involving the death of the youngest Azzuri son, involving the Grays, and it takes Sam, a wolve assassin named Raven, and two sorcerers to bring it to light, but not everyone will survive, when a climatic showdown takes place. This is the first in a trilogy, and the book gets off to a fast start. If you’re a fan of Vampires, Wolves, and Sorcerers, you will enjoy this story. I can’t wait to see where the next two stories take these characters.
