Marcie and David Bowers are married, have two children and live in Hemingway Grove, Illinois, not too far away from Chicago, where Marcie used to work as an attorney at a big firm, until a case with the mob got to be too much. She’s now a small-town lawyer, and David owns a successful bar. Everything is going great for them, until the day David jumps into the river to rescue the people inside a car that went over a bridge. It was caught on camera and went viral. Then the people David was hiding from saw him and came for him, he has a secret past that his wife knows nothing about. There’s now a mysterious, pregnant woman, an FBI agent, a man from his past, and a local cop all looking into him, and then tragedy strikes and Marcie has to pick up the pieces. Just who is the man she married and loves? This is another great book from author James Patterson, this time writing with David Ellis. It doesn’t matter if he writes alone, or with a co-author, he never puts out a bad book. This one has all the classic twists and turns you expect from one of his books. A perfect start to your fall reading season!
