Jane gets a call from her mother that her father has suddenly died. She was a daddy’s girl, unlike her brother who was a mommy’s boy and now she has to take care of his passing. When she cleans out his desk she finds a bunch of letters that indicate her father was having a long-time affair and she has a half-brother she never knew about and goes in search of him. Adam is 16 and having a rough time of it. He was expected to be a world-class tennis player, but decided to play football instead, has gained a lot of weight, which he wants to lose and has conflicts with his parents. He knows he is adopted and wants to find his real mother. Jane and Adam are on a course to meet each other but not for the reason we may think. This is an intense, well-written story, that engages you right away and never lets up. With shocking twists you don’t see coming. A perfect Memorial Day novel to read.
