Book Review: Leonard Maltin’s ‘Hooked On Hollywood’ Is A Great Look At Film History

I have been watching Leonard Maltin for many years. Back through the Entertainment Tonight days and he is usually spot on with his thoughts and reviews. He has written many books over the years on the industry and is back now with his latest Hooked On Hollywood: Discoveries from a Lifetime of Film Fandom.

Leonard doesn’t hold back in this book. He looks at so many different aspects of film looking at the unique music of Casablanca, the movie Blues In The Night, rare early interviews he did with Burgess Meredith, Joan Blondell, George O’ Brien and other interviews he did later in life.

He also looks at RKO studios and all the great movies they put out and what happened to them. It’s a fascinating look at them.

The whole book is filled with gems of knowledge that only Leonard Maltin would know or uncover. For any movie buff this is a must read book.
