Thom and Wendy have been married for a long time. They have a nice house, a full-grown son named Jason and seem to have the perfect marriage except she can’t stand him. He drinks too much, he flirts with women and he’s writing a novel that has shocking secrets based on their lives and something they did years ago and she’s planning on killing him. The book works in reverse time, it starts off in 2023 and goes backward in time to specific times in their relationship. We see birthday parties, the birth of their son, when they got married, their shocking secret, to planning that secret, to how they met up after many years to their first kiss as teenagers. An intense, unique novel that works and is different from anything else you will read this year.
