The second novel in the series finds author Bailey Briggs in Honeybuzz Mountain, living on her Grandmother’s farm, and trying to finish her new novel. She’s also close to where her aunts live and has reconnected with her best friend Evie and is even getting to see Sheriff Sawyer, her high school boyfriend and potential love interest once again, around town. This weekend is the Humble Hills annual Bee Festival and is usually a big success. This year they have gotten Rex Rafferty, a big star of a morning news show, as the host for the weekend, who turns out to be a big jerk. At one point over the weekend, he makes a pass at Evie, who shuts him down and threatens to kill him. Then he is found dead, and Evie is the prime suspect. Bailey, along with her Granny and her friends, are determined to clear Evie and find the real killer, and make sure the festival continues, even if it kills them. This is a good, small-town mystery, that hits all the right notes. The lead characters and supporting ones are a hoot. An easy, fun beach read.
