Sybil Sweet cannot keep a job, and lives with her mother, sister and best friends, depending on her mood. She has a crappy car, no boyfriend and barely any money. She decides to buy a lottery ticket and wants a donut, so goes to Joe’s Donuts, which is open late and run by Kieran, who has deferred medical school after two years, to run the shop after his grandfather had a stroke, Sparks fly between the two and soon there in his office fooling around, until his sister shows up. She leaves the ticket, with a goodbye note. It turns out the ticket is a winner of a lot of money. He goes viral trying to find her and return the ticket. It makes business at the shop go crazy, she comes in and gets the ticket and they decide to fake date, to get her mother off her back. In return, she will give him money to catch up on his debts. They end up falling for each other and when he has to decide it he’s going back to school, Sybil makes a gesture that backfires and may break them up. This is a great rom-com, with two characters you follow along with and root for. With a great supporting cast of characters, this is one not to be missed.
