Book Review: ‘Jane & Edward: A Modern Reimagining Of Jane Eyre’ By Melodie Edwards

Jane Raines lost her mother at a young age, and her father when she was 13, and was put into the foster care system. At 18, she became a waitress, and six years later she took online classes, got a degree, and is starting a job as a legal assistant in Toronto, at a big-time law firm. She’s the personal assistant to Edward Rosen, who goes through assistants a lot, because he’s an ass. Jane is not prepared for what she gets, but adapts quickly, and manages to keep the job, and even spare with Edward. Soon they fall in love, and moving their relationship along, until she learns a shocking secret about him, and leaves him, and the firm, and she goes back to school, and gets a new job. Then she learns a secret about her father, which throws her, and she decides to face Edward, and see if they truly have a future together. This is told as a reimagining of Jane Eyre, since I never read that, I can’t comment on it. As a rom-com, it’s very well written, with two strong characters, and a story you follow along with, and some LOL moments. A good way to kick off spring. Fans of this genre will like this one.
