Book Review: ‘It’s Better This Way’ Is The Next Great Debbie Macomber Novel

After 30 years of marriage Julia Jones was shocked when her husband Eddie told her he wanted a divorce. He wasn’t in love with her anymore. She asked if there was someone else and he said no (there was and he finally admitted it). She asked for six months to try and talk him out of it. But he was determined to end his marriage and be with Laura his new love. This tore their family apart and her two daugters wanted nothing to do with Eddie or his new wife. After the divorce a big blow up happened between Eddie, Laura and her two sons and Eddie’s two daughters. Now six years later the girls are not talking to their dad. Julia has moved on and is living in a nice condo building and has sold her business for a good price. She has sworn off dating after going on a few bad ones the last few years. Then she meets Heath in the gym of their building. And they hit it off and become friends, both swearing off dating. But they are two attracted to each other and fall for each other. And then a shocking reveal happens and it not only threatens their relationship and that of both of their families.

I love Debbie Macomber books as she never disappoints in her novels. This is another great character-driven novel and shows that life goes on after divorce and being older. A story you become emotionally invested in and you root for these characters to all work out their issues and be a family.
