Kenzie Adams is a nurse who works at a major hospital and has suffered a family tragedy that she blames on herself. She decides to run away for the summer to a small island not far from Seattle. She will be a nurse at a kids’ camp for the summer. She arrives days earlier than she planned and finds the place isn’t what she thought it would be, but she has to stick it out for the summer. Leah, who runs the camp, has her young son Chris with her, and also Drake, Bree and Erik are on hand to get the camp ready to go and Jon soon arrives early. They’re told that there may be a buried treasure on the island, and they will search for it and split whatever they may find. Drake especially needs the money, as he is in trouble with some men. Then suddenly they hear a boat arriving and it smashes into the rocks, it has three people and one is hurt. These are the bad men Drake was worried about ,and they have guns and hold everyone prisoner. They want the treasure and plan to escape to Canada. Kenzie and Jon and Chris have all escaped and are making plans to somehow overpower these people. In the process, people will die, some will be injured, and a fatal showdown will take place. This is an intense, well-written psychological thriller that keeps you reading along. Fans of these kinds of novels will enjoy this one.
