The year is 1865, and the war in Mexico rages, with the French in control and the President and Isabel Luna Valdes’ parents in hiding, she’s the middle child in the family of three sisters. She wants nothing more than to leave London and return to her home in Mexico, and is working for the President trying to find evidence, during parties she slips into personal libraries and studies, looking for information to help Mexico, She also has a shadow in Sirius Dawson, a handsome man she considers a rogue, and who looks out for her. He works for the home office, also looking for any type of intelligence he can find. The two make quite a pair and are together a lot, and an attraction develops, and they fall for each other. They have hot sexual encounters, and they fall in love, but her main goal is to return to her country and ends up breaking both of their hearts. Sirius is not going to let her leave that easily and makes a huge sacrifice to try and win her. This is the second novel in the series, and it’s as good as the first one. You root for the couple to be together, and the steamy scenes certainly help this enjoyable novel.
