I always enjoy finding new characters and series of books to read. Author Anna Carlisle is back with her third novel featuring Gin Sullivan. It’s set in a small town of Trumbull, PA with fun, quirky characters, an interesting story and a murder mystery that takes over the town with Gin leading the way to solve it (even though she’s told not to get involved). She just can’t help herself.
Things in her life are not going good. She and her boyfriend Jake seemed to be doing okay until his mother turned up dead of a drug overdose. He hasn’t known his mother since she left when he was little. This sets him off on a downward spiral as he’s having business problems, lost his dad not too long ago and was accused of murder. He decides he needs a break from Gin and leaves to work on his business and the project he’s working on.
Before he leaves he finds Jonah Krischer who he found selling drugs thinking he had something to do with his mother’s death. He didn’t but it sets a chain of events in the town with murdered bodies, drugs and a potential police scandal involving the Police chief and indirectly her mother the Mayor.
The more Gin investigates, the more trouble it brings her until she’s in the path of a murdered that could end her life.
An easy to read, well written story that has some twists and turns you won’t see coming leading to the climatic showdown. You haven’t had to read the previous stories as author Anna Carlisle gives enough backstory to understand what’s going on.
You can pick it up in stores on Tuesday, September 11th from Crooked Lane.
