It’s Christmas time in Mistletoe, Maine, and it’s the busiest time of the year for the town. Holly is hoping that this year things will run smoothly and there will be no murders, like the last four years. When the body of Elijah Snow, the son of one of the founding members of the town is found dead in a batter of gingerbread men, all hopes for a murder-free holiday are gone. The prime suspect is Mr. Moore, whose family was another founding member of the town, who had a falling out years ago with the Snow family. Holly, who is married to the Sheriff, is asked to not investigate this time and leave it him. She can’t help herself and starts asking questions and soon gets warnings to back off, and the killer decides she’s getting too close, and takes matters into their own hands. Holly just hopes she will live to celebrate her one-year anniversary on Christmas Eve. This is the fifth book in the series and another fun one. These small-time murder mysteries are easy to read and always have quirky characters to support the story and we can’t forget about Cindy Lou Who, Holly’s diva cat. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
