Alana, a schoolteacher, is married to Daniel, who owns a successful restaurant, in a small California town. Alana has come up with bookbinders, a place for someone to write all the information about themselves in case they go missing. When Chloe and Ray move in next door to them, it creates a whole world of problems for Alana, she knows them both from high school, she was best friends with Chloe and in love with Ray until Chloe stole him from her. When one of Alana’s students is kidnapped and then Chloe goes missing, the bookbinders come in handy. Alana has a lot of secrets and by reading Chloe’s book and diary, she starts to figure out what’s going on and she figures out what’s really going on and makes a daring rescue attempt. This is a good psychological thriller, with lots of twists and turns you don’t see coming. A good book to end the year on.
