The year is 2011 in California and for Nicole Forbes, it’s a quiet life with her husband and daughter, Hannah. Her world is about to be blown up. A writer arrives wanting to interview her about her relationship with a member of the band Secret Oktober, who were big in the 80’s. She knows things about the band, but does not want to talk about it. This same day her daughter Cassie goes missing from school, having been picked up by an ‘aunt,’ who is fake. We flashback to 1986 and what Nicole’s relationship to the band and one of its members Ben and what happened back then. Could this have something to do with who took her daughter? Author Sandie Jones writes the best novels and this is another winner. Any novel involving 80’s music is a winner with me. The dual timeline works great here and we are engaged in this story.
