Alex Marks is a copywriter and a fan of the New York Herald’s column, Dear Constance, who gives advice. She is sad when she finds out the writer is dead, having been murdered. One night Alex has drank too much, and decides to apply to take over writing the column, and gets hired. She can’t wait to start writing, until she finds out things at the paper are not that good, the editor and owner don’t get along, and she gets letters questioning her if she should be writing this column. She soon worries she may be the target of the person who murdered the previous writer, and gets help from a former cop and a waitress, but it may be too late for her if she can’t find the killer right away. An intense, psychological thriller, that will keep you reading along, with some well-placed twists. Fans of these kinds of novels will enjoy this one.
