David Alvarez had it all, a best-selling first novel, with a high figure price tag, a great boyfriend and a promising writing career. His second book tanked, his boyfriend broke up with him and now the book company has dropped his option for a third book and he’s broke. Trying to put his worries away for a night, he goes on an app, and meets Robert, who’s staying at the Plaza, they have hot sex and go out on the town and get drunk and end up at his place. The next morning he wakes up and Robert is dead, and he thinks he may have killed him by giving him the wrong pills, he was meant to give him aspirin. He calls his agent, Stacey, and they devise a plan to bring him back to his hotel room and leave his body. It turns into the movie Weekend At Bernies for a while, the two of them moving his dead body around. They soon find out there is more to Robert and he had a second hotel, where they leave his body and they feel guilty about it, but move on with their lives. David even gets an option for a new book deal and decides to write a fiction novel about what happened with Robert and the publisher loves it and things are looking up or are they? A mysterious man is following him and he gets a writing offer that’s too good to be true and now must figure out what’s really going on. This is a great, well-written novel, that you want to keep reading, with plenty of moments where you laugh out loud. This is Aleman’s debut novel and I can’t wait to see what he writes next!
