It’s November of 1965, and Vietnam war is happening, and in Vermont, men are getting ready to ship out. Detective Frank Warren is called to the Ridge Club, which is an exclusive club, where a former ambassador, William Moulton, has been found dead in the woods during deer hunting season. At first, it’s thought that it was an accidental shooting, but Frank soon learns he was stabbed before being shot. There are a number of suspects at the club, and Frank, along with his partner, Pinky. When a freak snowstorm hits, Warren and all the potential suspects are stuck at the club, the power goes out, and another person is found murdered. It soon leads to a dramatic chase across the snow to save one of the people staying at the club. There’s a side story involving a local woman named Alice, who has a secret past, helping to deliver a baby during the storm. This is the second novel in this series I didn’t read the first one, and it was an engaging novel, with interesting characters and a murder mystery. Hopefully, there will be more novels with these lead characters.
