Boston 1662 and for Mary Deerfield it’s time to change her life. She can over from England to start a new life with her parents. At 24 years old she’s married to a man almost twice her age and she has yet to become pregnant. And her husband on occassion hits her and verbally abuses her. She’s had enough after he stabs her hand with a three prong fork (a sign of the devil). She files for divorce (which is seldom granted). She is also having fantasies about a newcomer in town named Henry Simmons and people are starting to talk. We go through a trial and it’s aftermaths and then Mary is accused of being a witch and must fight these charges as well.

A solid thriller that looks at a time in our history that is not good (the burning of witches) and a look a look at domestic abuse and how one little thing in that time period could cost someone their life. If you’re a fan of The Flight Attendent you’ll want to read this one.

You can pick up Hour Of The Witch in stores on Tuesday, May 4th from Doubleday.
