Book Review: ‘Holy Chow’ Is The Next Fun Andy Carpenter Mystery By David Rosenfelt

There’s nothing I like better than getting an early copy of a new Andy Carpenter book. I just love everything about the novels. Well-written, fun and quirky characters and dogs that are part of the stories. The newest book is as good as the first time I read one of these novels. I only wonder why this hasn’t been made into a TV series yet. And it also features one of the best characters in series in Marcus, who is a bad-ass! Once again Andy Carpenter tries to stay retired but gets asked to defent another man accused of murder, Tony Wasserman. He is the step-son of Rachel Morehouse, who was murdered. Andy knew her because she adopted an older dog named Lion a year ago from The Tara Foundation. She asked to him to look out for Lion if anything should happen to her. Turns out she owned a mega-successful company and was worth $12 Billion dollars and was trying to patch up a relationship with Tony. All evidence points to Tony and Andy has to have his talented crew really dig deep on this one (and what a crew he has including the Jewish Squad who are in their eighties). There’s also attempts on Andy’s life from people who don’t like his digging, especially when he gets too close. It’s the courtroom scenes that are most intense. Nobody writes them better than David Rosenfelt. And to top that all off there’s a special bonding moment with Andy and Marcus that is not to be missed. Another winner in the series.

You can pick up Holy Chow in stores on Tuesday, July 5th from Minotaur Books.
