As the second book begins, Holmes is missing and Poe and Margaret have a few small cases their working on. When Helene calls needing their help, they rush to a hospital where six newborn babies have been kidnapped. They are soon hired by the parents of the six babies to try and find them. They find Holmes and bring him back and he declares he’s down with the firm. They’re able to convince him to help with this case and Holmes soon gets involved with a man named Oliver Paul, who tells him about a serial killer, that every year kills a mother and makes it look like an accident. As they work the cases, they soon learn that there have been other kidnappings in other countries and they soon figure out where the babies are and Holmes soon learns Paul is not who he says he is and it leads to a shocking showdown and who has been behind the kidnappings. On personal notes, Holmes learns a shocking secret and declares his love and Poe is in for a shock as well. This is a great follow-up to the first novel, with a lot of new character development, an intense story and lots of potential stories going forward for many novels to come.
