Book Review: ‘Hollow Kingdom’ Is A Great Debut Novel

Author Kira Jane Buxton has written quite the fun debut novel. It is equal parts zombie, mystical and downright funny with lots of LOL moments. The author takes the reader on quite the emotional journey that has you rooting for a talking Crow with a fowl mouth and a dog named Dennis.

S.T. is a talking crow (and has a dirty mouth and an attitude). He loves hanging out with his owner Big Jim, eating Cheetos, watching Nascar and CNN and going for drives with Jim when he goes to work and even putting up with Dennis the slobbering dog. But things all change one day when one of Jim’s eyes falls out. Then Jim goes crazy as do the rest of mankind known as MoFos. S.T. and Dennis go on the run to try and find out what is happening in the world. It means going out to Seattle. They soon see things are not right with the world. He finds mankind eating animals, and a lot of dead bodies. He has made it his mission to make sure Dennis is safe as they wonder.

He soon comes across a batch of enemy crows, mean dogs, a Bear and finds other domestic animals stuck in houses. He makes it his mission to help rescue them. He soon joins forces with other crows and animals as humankind is being wiped out, animals are now marking their territories and S.T. and his new gang must try and stake out their place in this new world all while trying to find a mystical person from another world that may be the key to everything.

You can pick up Hollow Kingdom in stores on Tuesday, August 6th from Grand Central Publishing.
